Salary for SSC Clerk


Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) exam to recruits candidates who go on to fill important government posts like DEO, LDC, Postal Assistants, etc. As per the latest notification, there is a hike to 22-24 % in the SSC CHSL salary structure after the 7th pay commission. The various posts for which the successful candidates will be recruited by clearing the CHSL exam are as follows:
Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA)
Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA)
Data Entry Operator (DEO)
Data Entry Operator (DEO)- Grade A

Negative Marking

In SSC CGL Exam, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 for each wrong answer.


Recruitment Process


This is a 75 minutes examination, having 100 questions & total 200 marks. For each correct answer, a student scores +2 marks and for each incorrect response, a penalty of -0.50 is given. There is no penalty for not attempting questions. The score obtained in Tier – I examination is added in the final score to arrive at the merit list. There are four sections – Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language and General Awareness & each section 25 questions.
